The ukulele is a kind instrument.

Contrary to popular belief (which is luckily changing), the ukulele is not just for novelty songs or Tip Toe Thru the Tulips, but is in fact, an extremely versatile instrument. It is also a common misbelief that only happy songs can be played on the ukulele. That is also a ridiculous idea. The ukulele can carry a range of moods and can be played virtuosically in many styles including jazz, blues, islander, country, rock, pop, folk, punk and classical.

A renewed interest in the ukulele is happening worldwide on all levels not only with professional musicians, but it is also giving people who have never played music before the opportunity to join a local group and learn to strum and sing. Over thirty clubs have started in Australia in the last five or so years in both metropolitan and regional towns. The first Australian club was the wonderful MUK (Melbourne Ukulele Kollective) who organize the annual Melbourne Ukulele Festival (MUF). On her travelling around the countryside, Rose regularly visits these clubs to teach workshops and perform.

Rose started playing ukulele in 2000 when she first plugged one into a multi FX guitar pedal. From that moment, it became her main instrument as she submerged herself in all things ukulele and gradually became a part of the international family of uke players and enthusiasts. ________________________________________________________________________
The connections Rose has made with other players all around the world led her to produce a cook book entitled "What Do Ukulele Players Eat?" - a collection of recipes submitted by 26 international ukers. With vegan alternatives! The second edition will be ready in early 2012.
